- Since 1979, the New Canadians Centre Peterborough has been the hub for service provision for new Canadians in the Peterborough community. In 2008, in an effort to create a cohesive regional response to the emerging needs of newcomers, the City of Peterborough and the New Canadians Centre joined together with over twenty-five local organizations to establish the Peterborough Partnership Council on Immigrant Integration.
